Hamlet Protein was among the participants at the Young Animal Nutrition 2020 summit in Amsterdam, Holland. The event, hosted by FeedNavigator.com, was attended by feed producers, farmers and scientists

​At the summit, NPD Manager Christine Brøkner participated in the panel discussion on alternatives to zinc oxide use in piglet feed and also hosted the roundtable discussion on fibers and organic acids.

“At the Young Animal Nutrition Summit our team actively participated in the discussions on dietary intervention to stimulate the onset of microbiota and gut development while evaluating the requirement for nutrients and physical structure in broiler and piglet diets,” says Christine Brøkner.

At the Hamlet Protein Innovation Center in Horsens (Denmark) knowledge on nutrition physiology, biotechnology and practical application of feed ingredients is combined with a specific focus on the needs of young animals. “In our work with fibrous and protein rich raw materials in the bioconversion process, we have developed HP FiberStart, a product used in the first diet post-weaning to stimulate the natural production of butyric acid in the gut for immediate use by the colonic epithelial cells and the anti-inflammatory and -microbial effects in the immature and challenged gut during weaning”, commented Christine Brøkner.

Since gut health plays a vital role when it comes to outpahsing zinc oxide, HP FiberStart makes an ideal feed ingredient when zink oxide is to be outphased in the EU by 2022.
