As a part of exhibition programme, we are holding a technical seminar, where our Feed Application Manager, Mathijs E. Keij, is giving a presentation about: "The effect of the ban on the use of antibiotics on the formulation of diets for post weaning piglets in Denmark".

Description:

In 2000, the efforts of the Danish government to reduce the use of antibiotics in animal feed resulted in a ban on the use of antimicrobial growth promoters in feed.

Six years later, EU followed this initiative and applied the restriction in all member countries. In reaction to the ban, the formulation of diets for post weaning piglets resulted in the use of highly digestible ingredients containing lowest possible levels of anti-nutritional factors.

The simultaneous reduction of the amount of fishmeal in the diets poses extra focus on ingredient selection and formulation of diets giving optimal gut health.
